Josephine Funk (deceased) lived in Russell, KS and she loved cats, collecting treasures, and drawing. She was a very colorful dresser and especially loved turquoise jewelry which adorned her apparel on a daily basis.

Jo liked to go to garage sales, auctions and buy items. In the 1980's, she was considering opening "Jo's Treasure Hut" to sell all or many of the wonderful things she had collected through the years. This business never opened but she kept storing gems.

All of the collections were stored in apple boxes. It was only upon her death that people discovered that Jo had drawn designs with colored pencil on hundreds of the apple storage boxes.

She often incorporated the original box end design into her colorful new design.
